If you have a concern about how your health information is handled, write to the officer named below. You will get an acknowledgement, and an answer within the period the law allows.
Sample details. The contact below belongs to the example clinic used for demonstration. A real clinic's officer, address and email are recorded against that clinic and will appear here before it is used with patients.
You can ask the clinic to stop sending you marketing messages, or to erase your contact details, at any time. Write to the officer above and you will get an acknowledgement.
Your clinical record is different. The clinic is required by law to keep it for at least three years after your last visit, and longer if any legal proceeding is ongoing, so that part of a request will be refused. You will be told in writing what is being kept and why.
Stopping marketing messages does not stop reminders about your own appointments. Those are a separate permission, and you can turn them off too.
If you are not satisfied with the response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
